" Impact of
stress can be costly - Persistent stress
has long been considered to be harmful to health.
Now a new study indicates that the health costs
of
stress in the workplace
may be more than anyone thought. A study
of more than 46,000 employees at six large companies
found that the costs linked to serious stress
-- workers reporting exposure to constant stress
with no methods to cope -- accounts for about
8 percent of the total health care expenditures
of these companies, or about $24 billion annually.
Research has shown that psychological services
provided to employees can reduce absenteeism,
increase productivity and reduce disability
claims, said the report, which appears in the
American Journal of Health Promotion."
-- Chicago Tribune
"What is
hypertension?
Simply put it's
high blood pressure,
and a person with normal blood pressure at age
55 has a 90% lifetime risk of developing it."
-- The Wall Street Journal Sunday , March
21, 2004-2008

thank you for our counseling session last night. I
think you did a great job, and I feel like you can really
help me. I was definitely tense and nervous, as I've
never done this before, but I want you to know that I do
feel like I can trust you, and that I think that I can become
very comfortable with you. You were right when you
said that it would be hard, but I know that it won't get
better without going through the hard stuff first.
I look forward to our next session.... Thanks again."
