Reports On Health says:
"Recent
clinical studies suggest that hypnosis--a form of deeply
imagining desired results--can indeed help motivated people
accomplish...goals." -- February 2004
"Hypnotism
may help you lose twice as much weight. In a recent
study, hypnotized patients lost more than double
the amount of weight that patients lost in a weight-loss
program without a hypnosis component." This
is but an example of the transformational power of self
hypnosis techniques.

It is not something Dr. Colt does to his clients.
He teaches them the transformational power of self hypnosis
techniques to help them harness the power of their own unconscious
minds. Additionally, he uses cognitive-behavioral
therapy to help you eliminate the blockades to your goals.

WHAT TO EXPECT FROM ETHICAL PROFESSIONAL
SERVICES
Various professional organizations follow the general
principal that hypnotists should use hypnosis only in
the areas of their competence, and in their own particular
field of education and training (psychology, dentistry,
medicine, social work, marriage and family therapy,
nursing). That is, a psychologist must meet the ethical
standards of the psychological association as well as
standards of care required by the state or province
psychology licensing board; a dentist should meet the
standards of the dental association and dental licensing
board; people in other professions should meet the standards
of both their professional organization and their state
or province licensing board. Obviously, if a person
is not licensed for professional practice in one of
the health care professions, they do not meet these
standards.
According to the American Psychological Association
Division of Psychological Hypnosis,
"Hypnosis is not a type of therapy, like psychoanalysis
or behavior therapy. Instead, it is a procedure that
can be used to facilitate therapy. Because it is not
a treatment in and of itself, training in hypnosis is
not sufficient for the conduct of therapy. Clinical
hypnosis should be used only by properly trained and
credentialed health care professionals . . . who have
also been trained in the clinical use of hypnosis and
are working within the areas of their professional expertise."

Division of Psychological Hypnosis [1993, Fall].

"Hi Dr. Colt - as of
tomorrow it will be one month since my last visit with
you. I purposely waited this long to report back to
you on how well I've done. I have made tremendous
progress. I still can't believe how my life has
changed. Here goes.... To date I have lost 8 lbs.
- I tried on a skirt today that I haven't been able
to wear since 2003. I am still going to Curves
5-6 days a week religiously. Eating hasn't been a problem
at all. I'm doing exactly what you told me to do. I
last saw you on 2/1. On 2/6 - I worked in my office
at home. I took all the papers that I had on the desk
and put them in a pile on a TV tray out of the way.
I cleaned and organized the rest of my office, putting
up pictures, etc. It now looks like an organized
office. My next step is to clean out the closet
in the guest bedroom. Then I am going to go to the closet
in the living room and clean it out. I still have clothes
in these closets from when my house burned and they
brought them back. They have been there ever since (1998).
On 2/10, I tackled the papers that I had put in the
pile. Everything has been filed. Now when I get
my mail I immediately take it up to my desk and file
it away. On 2/11, I refinanced my house combining
my second mortgage - I went from a 7.25% to 5.75%,
saving myself $200 per month. In addition, I contacted
my insurance company on my homeowners insurance, the
adjustments I made saved me $300 per year.
Please know that I've wanted to refinance but every
time I checked into it I'm told "no it can't be done"
or I've got the best deal that I'm going to get. So
I literally gave up. Plus I was comfortable. On 2/12
& 2/13, I racked in my yard. This is something
that was always hard for me to do. I still have a couple
of piles to bag up but overall a huge improvement. On
2/19, I switched Tree Service Companies. I've had the
same company for over 12 yrs. When I got my contract
for 2005 the cost was through the roof in excess of
$2,000.. I checked around and got another company
to do the same things for a lot cheaper. Saving around
$1,300. 2/25 - I had a date. 2/26 - I had a date. I
haven't been emotional at all until 2/14 - Valentines
Day. It just got to me when I had no one in my life.
I got through it though. I've been listening to the
tape 2-4 times a week. I have not cried or gotten
emotional when I go to my favorite place. Liquor consumption
is at about half of what I was drinking before. Other
than 2/14 I haven't been emotional at all. The thoughts
that have plagued me for many many years are gone.
I was always pretty confident before but now....my confidence
is like at 300%+. I'm even thinking of changing
jobs or doing things that would enhance my current job.
I feel different and can't explain why. I'd say I've
done really really well. I just can't believe the things
I've done. I owe it all to you Dr. Colt.
I had a feeling it was fate when I met you. You have
literally saved my life and I cannot thank you enough.
Keep up the good work!!! Thank you! Kathy"
"Hi Dr. Colt, {Name] here.
I just wanted to drop you a line and let you know how things
are going. I've really seen a difference in my life
since our sessions. I feel I have really gotten control
over my emotions as well as my outlook on things in general.
I doubt in your field you get enough positive response,
so let me say how wonderful it was to work with you and
how big of an impact you made on my life. You have
a very warm and sincere manner that made me feel very comfortable
your call. Occasionally people find the perfect avenue
for their skills. You have done that indeed.
I hope one day our paths cross again. Who knows, may
I'll run into you in San Francisco. Take care and
the best to you and your family. Deepest Regards,

"Hi Dr. Colt, The trip
went amazingly well. Much to my surprise. Take off and landing,
I had a bit of anxiety but... it was like a huge weight
was lifted off my shoulders and I was completely relaxed
the rest of the flight. I didn't feel much stress during
turbulence, which was shocking as well! I can't thank you
enough, I was so worried... but the skills you've taught
me has changed everything! I told my husband to start planning
our next trip! Thanks Again," -- L.A., Boulder

"I've been in counseling several times before. This
is the first time I feel there're changes taking place.
Before I felt like I was just putting band-aids on.
Life is 100% better that it was 3 months ago. Being
alone is okay again. When you first told me about
this process, I thought you were nuts. Now I find
myself having a lot more peace. Thank you, Marshall"
-- H.P.

in between appointments if I do not have to." -- T.R.
"I walked in [your office]
last night feeling confused and uncertain. I left
feeling like I had my direction back a bit (at least a game
plan). Thank you for that. I will let you know
if I should need a "tune-up" at some point. But I
want you to know that having someone you can go to in times
of difficulty is a valuable thing indeed. So thank
you for that as well." -- E.C.
"Dr. Colt - Hi, I just
wanted to say thank you for our counseling session last
night. I think you did a great job, and I feel like
you can really help me. I was definitely tense and
nervous, as I've never done this before, but I want you
to know that I do feel like I can trust you, and that I
think that I can become very comfortable with you.
You were right when you said that it would be hard, but
I know that it won't get better without going through the
hard stuff first. I look forward to our next session....
Thanks again." -- S.K.
"You were fantastic.
I had quite a bit to think about after talking to you and
I greatly appreciate you taking your time and sharing your
expertise with me." -- V.A.
"Hi Marshall: The other
night you thanked me for being patient. Well, I just
wanted to thank you for everything you're doing. [Name]
seems to be doing much better. She seems happier than
I have known her to be in a very long time. She seems
hopeful and optimistic. She really feels like she
is making progress with you specifically and her life in
general. So 'Thank You' with all my heart for helping
my lady." -- B.E.
